WRITING

This book was written to discuss all the ways that our society doesn't realistically talk about women's reproductive health -  including pregnancy, contraception, pregnancy termination, and more - and all that we miss because we don't. In it, there are stories of birth, and of complications, and of loss.  There are stories of how our medical system saves us, and fails us. There are stories of unconditional love and also of boundless tragedy, and often the same story has both.

My work in high-risk pregnancy grants me access to a corner of the world that is full of extraordinary and complicated experiences, ones that ask women and their families to be stronger, braver, and more vulnerable than most of us know. I wrote this book because those stories deserve thought and attention; and because we are all richer for knowing them.
